1. Mentorship Lessons

During the course, you will receive 6 private lessons of 2 hours to focus on your goals. These lessons can vary per person and we will help you choose the right topics. All the MPA teachers are at your disposal for these lessons, as well as some of the external experts that are only doing Full Course Year 2 lessons. These lessons will partly used to develop your final project – more about that below.

2. Master Project

In the last phase of the Full Course Advanced the skills and knowledge you’ve gained over the past year are the main focal point. You’ll choose an all-encompassing and ambitious project that has been entirely produced, arranged, mixed and mastered by you.

Choose something that is in line with your goals as a musician and producer, whether it is an E.P., a range of songs for commercials, a sound+video project or maybe even starting your own label. Dream big. We will assign a coach to help you.

You’ll have to make a plan for the development, marketing and release of this project. So you can use the knowledge you’ve gained during the lessons of artist development and music marketing to pitch your project and realize it.

We’ll judge the quality of your project, the way you applied the theory and practice you’ve learned in the lessons and the effort you’ve put into the project to grade it. Not only will this lead to your certificate for the Full Course year 2, but it will also be an important step into the growth of your career as a professional artist.

3. Advanced Composition & music theory

Explore the basics of composition and dive deep into advanced music theory. Grasp the principles that go into crafting catchy melodies and harmonies, and discover how these elements amp up the emotional vibe of your music. Get ready for some listening exercises and pinpoint areas for improvement in your music theory game.

We’re kicking it up a notch, moving beyond the first-year basics and getting down to the details. We’ll add some flavor to your tracks with insights on tuning and pitch correction, and throw in advanced chord progressions like Major7, sustained, and augmented. The goal? Taking your music to that next level, making it shine in the pro scene.

4. Advanced synthesis & sound design

In-depth knowledge of sound design is essential for shaping your unique style and establishing your identity as an artist.

How do you translate the sounds in your mind into your DAW? What choices are pivotal in achieving your distinctive signature sound? How can you craft a sound that is unmistakably yours? These lessons are your pathway to uncovering the answers to these questions.

In the hands-on sessions, you’ll be experimenting with both software synths and vintage or modern hardware synthesizers.

Expect insights from synth experts and sound design maestros. Each instructor is renowned for their mastery of synthesis and the distinct sounds that define their music. 6. Practical Lessons Advanced Mixing

A good mix, in whatever genre, can make the difference between a disappointing amount of plays or being signed by a record label. That’s why you’ll be jumping in the world of advanced compression techniques, the usage of noise gates, reverb and more, group mixing, the advanced appliance of EQ’s, etc. to fully prepare you as a professional mixing engineer.

Apply your knowledge in a practical setting. This session allows you hands-on experience, applying advanced mixing techniques under guidance, refining your skills through real-time practice.

5. Advanced Mixing, EQ-ing & Metering

Take your mixing to the pinnacle of professionalism. Uncover advanced techniques in mixing, equalization, and metering that will catapult your productions to new heights of clarity, balance, and depth.

Refine your mastery even further in advanced mixing, EQ, and metering. Dive deep into sophisticated methods that will truly distinguish your productions. Focus on achieving the ultimate sonic equilibrium and fine clarity that sets your work apart.

In this journey, we’ll explore the advanced realm, delving into the intricacies of multiband compressors, parallel compression, and other cutting-edge compression techniques. Engage in sidechain filtering, wield the power of linear phase EQ, and learn advanced reverb and delay techniques. Elevate every aspect, ensuring your songs transcend to the next level.

7. Theory Exam 1 Advanced Music Theory & Mixing:

Test your understanding of advanced music theory and mixing concepts. This theoretical exam will assess your comprehension and application of the concepts covered in the course.

8. Sound & Acoustics

We can’t stress this enough: don’t underestimate acoustics. While mixing and performing with your music you got to adequately keep the acoustics into account. During these lessons you’ll get practical tips about the characteristics of sound isolation and the best way to apply acoustic material and placing it in your room. You’ll also learn to make the right calculations for reflections and standing waves. That way you can let the acoustics work in your favor in the studio or on the podium.

9. Creative Vocal Processing

Unleash your creativity in vocal processing. Learn innovative techniques to manipulate and enhance vocal recordings, adding a unique sonic dimension to your electronic music productions.

10. Writing Songs & Doing Collaborations

Presenting yourself as an artist in the beginning of your career is invaluable. How do you present yourself in the club? How do you profile your act online? What are the “do’s & don’ts” during networking? Experts who have built an international brand share their tips and experiences on this subject.

As an assignment you’ll be researching a, by you, respected or similar artist and you’ll analyse how this act has made the right (or wrong!) choices to get where they are now. Finally you will put everything into practice for your own persona.
