Demon Slayer season three, episode one spoilers follow.

Demon Slayer season three has officially kicked off – and it’s just as good as ever.

The blockbuster anime returned in April 2023 with an all-new story adapting the original manga's Swordsmith Village arc.

The story picks things up after the events of the Mugen Train movie and the Entertainment District arc, both of which propelled Demon Slayer to international fame, and is living up to the hype so far.

We've already had incredible fight scenes, two terrifying Kizuki, and some engaging new characters. But just in case you need to catch up, here's everything you need to know about Demon Slayer season three.

Demon Slayer season 3 release schedule: When does Demon Slayer season 3 episode 10 come out?

Demon Slayer season three has not confirmed its final episode count, but season two's Entertainment District Arc had 11 episodes in total and we expect the same to be true this year.

With that in mind, here are the release dates and times for the final two episodes of season three:

• Episode 10 - Sunday, June 11 (7:15am PT, 3:15pm BST)
• Episode 11 - Sunday, June 18 (7:15am PT, 3:15pm BST)

Demon Slayer season three episode 10 is titled 'Love Hashira Mitsuri Kanroji' which means, after being AWOL for a few episodes, everyone's favourite pink-haired heroine is finally getting her moment to shine.

Demon Slayer season three began airing on Crunchyroll on April 9, 2023.

This is in line with the show's Japanese release schedule and means viewers will get new episodes every Sunday.

The Swordsmith Village arc kicked off with an hour-long special, as opposed to the normal 20-minute runtime, which included a seriously epic prologue.

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba season three's first episode also aired early in February and March as part of a global 'theatrical screening event' (similar to the Mugen Train situation) that included episodes 10 and 11 of Demon Slayer season two.

Thanks to trailers and plot summaries, we knew that the majority of the cast from the first and second seasons were returning for season three. The two major additions have been Mist Hashira, Muichiro Tokito, and the Love Hashira, Mitsuri Kanroji, who were both first introduced in episode 21 of season one.

Here are the Japanese and English voice actors for all of Demon Slayer's principal players:

      • Tanjiro Kamado – Natsuki Hanae / Zach Aguilar (English)
      • Nezuko Kamado – Akari Kitô / Abby Trott (English)
      • Inosuke Hashibira – Yosh*tsugu Matsuoka / Bryce Papenbrook (English)
      • Zenitsu Agatsuma – Hiro Shimono / Aleks Le (English)
      • Muzan Kibutsuji – Toshihiko Seki / Greg Chun (English)
      • Kagaya Ubuyashiki – Toshiyuki Morikawa / Matthew Mercer (English)
      • Water Hashira, Giyu Tomioka – Takahiro Sakurai / Johnny Yong Bosch (English)
      • Love Hashira, Mitsuri Kanroji – Kana Hanazawa / Kira Buckland (English)
      • Mist Hashira, Muichiro Tokito – Kengo Kawanishi / Griffin Burns (English)
      • Flower Hashira, Kanae Kocho – Ai Kayano / Bridget Hoffman (English)
      • Tsuguko Kanao Tsuyuri – Reina Ueda / Brianna Knickerbocker (English)

Despite the above cast list, avid Demon Slayer manga readers will know that Inosuke and Zenitsu, who played key roles in the show's first two seasons, appear only briefly during the Swordsmith Village Arc.

Key players from the production crew will also be back, including head of original story Koyoharu Gotoge, director Haruo Sotozaki and character designer Akira Matsushima.

Demon Slayer season 3 plot: What will happen in Demon Slayer season 3?

Demon Slayer season three will focus on the original manga's ninth arc, the Swordsmith Village arc.

It's worth noting that the Demon Slayer manga officially came to an end in 2020, providing a unique situation for anime fans where they can find out (roughly) what the future has in store for Tanjiro and the gang.

      So, spoilers ahead!

The Swordsmith Village arc picks up directly after the Entertainment District arc, which ended with Tanjiro and Sound Hashira Tengen Uzui defeating the demon siblings Gyutaro and Daki.

Luckily, the only permanent casualty of this epic battle was Tanjiro's demon-slaying sword.

Demon Slayer season three will see Tanjiro travel to the Swordsmith Village in order to have his blade repaired.

This was confirmed by the special early cinema screening of season three, episode one in early March. A few lucky fans were treated to a sneak peek of what the season has in store with an extra-long first episode that revealed Tanjiro had been in a coma for two months.

Once awake, Tanjiro discovers that his sword is still broken and that Master Haganezuka, who forged it for him in season one, refuses to fix it. This sends him on a journey to the Swordsmith Village.

While there he meets the village chief who tells him Haganezuka is missing. He also bumps into two other key players, Genyu Shinazugawa (the angry younger brother of the Wind Hashira) and Love Hashira Kanroji.

Kanroji tells Tanjiro that he should investigate the rumour of a powerful weapon hidden somewhere nearby, and so (of course) a treasure hunt begins.

Satoshi Hino, who played Rengoku, was able to identify the key to Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba's global success (via AnimeNewsNetwork).

"Caring for family, the importance of life, and to live one's life to the fullest are some of the themes in this anime, which everyone around the world can relate to," said Hino.

"I feel really blessed that everyone around the world has become one and shares this common sentiment."

If season three wants to build on the show's success, it will continue to develop these important themes.

One thing's for sure, the tunes are going to be cool. Crunchyroll spoke to musician Aimer, who performed the opening and ending song for season two, and performed live at the season-three launch event, about composing special music for the show's soundtrack.

"When I create a song for an anime series, I always try to think about what makes that series unique, and how I can replace and express that uniqueness musically," Aimer explained.

"For example, with Demon Slayer, I created a song for the Entertainment District arc. And in it, you see many fireworks in a very Japanese atmosphere. So trying to come up with a way to express that in music, I incorporated brass instruments that I never used before."

Season three's unique theme music is by MAN WITH A MISSION and milet, and the band's guitarist, vocalist and rapper Jean-Ken Johnny did plenty of research to prepare (via Otaku USA).

"For the track, after I listened to the other previous opening theme songs, for a different approach the first plan of the song was to have a punkish alternative rock essence with an abundant amount of Japanese instrument vibes," Jean-Ken Johnny said.

"Since we were collaborating with milet this time, as a fan of her voice and singing style, I believe I built up the bridge melody of hers which I thought would fit and sound beautiful and enchanting with her voice.

"Another reason of the choice of the genre was because I haven’t heard so many songs of hers in this type of music. In my image I believe we especially worked on how to have her sing with more energy than her usual style when it hits the chorus. Lingering, hoping, promising and powerful at the same time."

Demon Slayer season 3 trailer: Any Demon Slayer season 3 footage yet?

An official trailer for Demon Slayer season three, which you can watch below, was shared alongside the show's release date. The trailer is more of a tease than anything, but it does show off some of the series' trademark action and give us our first new glimpse at the Love and Mist Hashiras.

Back in April 2022, Crunchyroll and Ufotable released a video that recapped some key moments from the first two seasons – but also highlighted footage of the Mist and Love Hashiras, who we know will play a key role in the third season. You can check that out at the top of this page.

A bit more recently, Ufotable also shared the below video which shows off the ‘Upper Moon’ demons, aka the strongest members of Kibutsuji’s Twelve Kizuki, some of whom we know will appear in Demon Slayer season three.

Earlier in 2022, Ufotable and streaming service Crunchyroll confirmed that Demon Slayer season three would be streaming on the service when it releases.

Crunchyroll’s base-tier 'fan' membership costs £6.50 per month, or $7.99 in the US, while the premium 'Mega fan' tier costs £8.99 and $9.99 respectively.
